and at the lowest points, too, 2021

collage, approx. 6x8”

and at the lowest points, too is a torn paper collage depicting an undersea dig operation conducted by a man with rubber boots and a wooden shovel. The scene is backed by a crossword puzzle. scuba divers look on. This piece makes me think of the complexity of seafloor exploration contrasted against the relatively trivial, but perhaps equally important pursuit of crossword puzzles. we humans have an unbendable urge to explore and understand both our physical/external reality, and our psychological/interior realities, as well. here, literally “digging” for an answer at implied great depth. the divers are the observers here; their gear-laden bodies contrast with the shirtless man doing the real digging.
